Collection Instructions: | Specimens should be free from hemolysis. PROTECT FROM LIGHT. Transfer specimens to separate amber plastic transport tubes, freezing one of the transport tubes. To avoid delays in turnaround time when requesting multiple tests on frozen samples, PLEASE SUBMIT SEPARATE FROZEN SPECIMENS FOR EACH TEST REQUESTED. SEPARATE FROZEN SPECIMENS FOR EACH TEST REQUESTED. |
Stability: | FREEZE one sample and maintain second sample refrigerated AND protect BOTH samples from light. |
Rejection Criteria / Special Instructions: | Patients must be fasting for a minimum of eight hours. Patients should avoid foods containing vitamin A or carotene for 48 hours (24 hours for patients younger than six months of age). |
